The Department of Pharmacy, State University of Bangladesh, organized a scientific seminar on Molecular Modelling, Therapeutic Drug Discovery and Development, which was held on 23rd May 2022. The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Shahidul Islam, Research Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, the University of Illinois at Chicago, United States of America, delivered his recent research presentation and shared his research experiences on the Design, Discovery and Development of Anti-COVID drug candidates targeting to the key binding protein of coronavirus. Faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students of the Department of Pharmacy participated in the seminar. This important scientific seminar has created a new insight for improving and understanding Drug Design and Development using molecular modeling, biomolecular engineering, and structural information strategies for the researchers and students.
The program was chaired by Prof. Md. Saiful Islam Pathan, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Md. Moklesur Rahman Sarker, Head of Academic & Research Affairs, Department of Pharmacy. At the end of the seminar, the keynote speaker Dr. Shahidul Islam visited the laboratories of the Department of Pharmacy and showed his satisfaction with our laboratory facilities and research activities. He also expressed his interest in collaborating for research in future with the Department.
