FENS SUB Showcases Research-Based Sustainable Food Innovations at BAPA FoodPro International Expo 2026

The Department of Food Engineering and Nutrition Science (FENS), State University of Bangladesh (SUB), actively participated in the BAPA FoodPro International Expo 2026, held from 9 to 11 September 2026 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka. Faculty members and students participated in the exhibition, showcasing innovative food products developed through research and development (R&D) and demonstrating the department’s commitment to food innovation, sustainability, and practical applications of food technology.

The department presented a diverse range of research-based food products, including jackfruit seed-based gluten-free pasta, Nutra-Crave Cookies, Nutri-Bloom Savory Snacks, jackfruit chips, dried mango, probiotic beverages developed from mango peel and jackfruit, banana pseudostem-based beverages, and Rui fish-based soup mix. These products highlight the potential of locally available and underutilized agricultural resources for developing nutritious, value-added food products while reducing food waste and supporting sustainable food processing.

The exhibition provided faculty members and students with valuable exposure to emerging food technologies, processing equipment, innovative packaging solutions, and current industry trends. Interactions with food industry professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, and technical experts also facilitated knowledge exchange, professional networking, and a better understanding of industry needs and commercialization opportunities.

Overall, the event strengthened the connection between academic research and industrial applications while encouraging students to pursue innovative and sustainable solutions for the food sector.

The event contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through experiential learning, research-driven innovation, industry engagement, and the promotion of sustainable food production practices.
