Professor

Professor Shamsul Wares is the Dean of School of Science and Technology, State University of Bangladesh. He obtained his B.Arch(Bachelor of Architecture) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1968. He served as a faculty in the Department of Architecture, BUET from February, 1972 to February, 2003. He served as Professor of Architecture and Dean of the faculty of Environmental Science and Design at UAP (University of Asia Pacific) from March, 2003 to April, 2015. At the beginning of his career, he worked with renowned Architect Mazharul Islam. Since 1972, he has been working as a self-employed professional architect and designed many residential, institutional and public buildings. He has served as the president of IAB (Institute of Architects Bangladesh) for two terms (1997-99 & 1995-97). He has also served as a jury member at several national and international design competitions. He worked as a member of technical expert committee in a number of govt. organizations of Bangladesh including Ministry of Public works, Ministry of Cultural Affairs etc. He attended several international seminars and read papers at a number of seminars held at Karachi, Washington D.C. and New Delhi. As a member of Architects Regional Council of Asia, he represented Bangladesh as the leader of delegation held at Colombo 1998, Tokyo 1997, Hong Kong 1996, Singapore 1995 and Manila 1994. He was honored with Lifetime Achievement Award for architectural education in 2009, awarded by IAB.
