Lecturer
Sharmin Sultana Rima completed her M.A in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
(TESOL) and B.A in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) from the Institute of
Modern Languages, University of Dhaka. Before joining at the State University of Bangladesh,
she worked as an IELTS Instructor. She is also currently working voluntarily as the Program
Manager (SIG) for TESOL Society of Bangladesh (a non-profit association of Applied
Linguistics), and is also a member of the organization’s Research SIG. She completed several
researches during her academic years. Among these, she has presented her work titled
“Reflection of Bloom’s Taxonomy in Secondary level’s English Education” (Supervisor-
Professor Dr. Sayeedur Rahman) in the 2020 Regional IML Conference at University of Dhaka.
She has also presented her research titled “Attitude towards Online Teaching-Learning during
the Covid-19 Pandemic: a study among the tertiary level teachers and students”(Supervisor-
Professor Iffat Ara Nasrin Majid) in the International Conference on Innovation and
Transformation for Development (ITD- 2022) at Green University of Bangladesh and her group
research titled “ELT (English Language Teaching) in Ethnic Communities, Perspective:
Rangamati and Khagrachari” (Supervisor- Professor Dr. Shaila Sultana and Professor Dr.
Syeedur Rahman) in the International Conference on Entangled Englishes in Translocal spaces at
the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). Her areas of interest in research are second
language acquisition, pedagogy, curriculum & learning materials, sociolinguistics and cognitive
linguistics. She is currently working on a collaborative book chapter on World Englishes. She
has also participated in various national and international seminars & workshops and has worked
extensively for various student-development & educational organizations.
