Mr. Paren Chandra Barman is an Assistant Professor and the Acting Head of the Department of English Studies. He has been teaching for almost fourteen years and simultaneously involved in administration within the department. He graduated from the University of Dhaka. He also obtained his Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics and ELT from the University of Dhaka. He has been effectively applying into teaching the knowledge of theories, methods and practices from applied linguistics. He is a Master Trainer in English Language Teaching certified by British Council and the University Grants Commission (UGC). He has been the editor of Eduvista, a newsletter of the university. He has also worked as an editor of convocation souvenir and alumni souvenir of the university. He has authored and co-authored various publications in journals on topics related to English Language Skills Development, Second/ Foreign Language Acquisition, style in literature, etc. His research concentration includes English Language Learning/Acquisition in Bangladesh, relation between language testing and language teaching and learning, language and thought, language and gender. Training: 1. Master Trainer’s Training conducted by Experts from Canterbury Christ Church University, Canterbury, UK organized by British Council and the University Grants Commission (UGC) from December, 2013 to June, 2014
