Message from the Vice Chancellor
Professor M. Shahjahan Mina is currently the Acting Vice-Chancellor of State University of Bangladesh (SUB). Before joining SUB, Professor Mina had been teaching in the Department of Finance, University of Dhaka for forty two years. During this period he worked as the Chairman of the Department, Director of Evening M.B.A program and Master of Professional Finance Program of the same department. He also worked as the Proctor of the University of Dhaka for about two years. He obtained his M.Com degree from the same department securing First class First position and joined the department as lecture in 1977. He obtained his Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA with World Bank scholarship. He played very important and active role in the overall administrative and academic affairs of the University as elected senate member and also as an expert member of Finance Committee of the University. He worked as an elected Treasurer and member of Executive Committee of Dhaka University Teachers Association. Professor Mina performed the responsibility of the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics and also as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University. Then he worked as the Adviser of the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University. Professor Mina has demonstrated outstanding skill in research and published as many as thirty research-based articles both in national and international journals and conducted four research projects and cases sponsored by UGC and Dhaka University. One of his research projects has been published by the Bureau of Business Research of Dhaka University. During his work in the University of Dhaka he supervised three Ph.D students who have been awarded Ph.D degree and currently he is supervising two D.B.A students of the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. He worked as Chief Editor and Executive Editor of “Finance and Development” journal of the Department of Finance, as a member of Editorial Board of the “Journal of the Faculty of Business Studies,” University of Dhaka and also as the Chief Editor of the “Journal of Business and Economics of Daffodil International University”. Currently three text books on Finance and Financial Management authored by him are being taught in undergraduate and post graduate levels of different of public and private universities in Bangladesh. Two text books on Finance and Insurance authored and edited by him are also taught at intermediate (H.S.C) level of different colleges all over Bangladesh.
State University of Bangladesh is a leading private University of Bangladesh. It has been playing a pivotal role in developing human resource since its inception in 2002. Since then, the university has been supplying quality human resources to both private and public sector of Bangladesh by maintaining a balanced portfolio of arts, business, science, engineering, enlivenment, and health sciences.
In its 19 years journey as a reputed institution of tertiary education, State University of Bangladesh has placed the highest emphasis on creating an effective teaching- learning environment. For attaining this goal, the university has endeavored its best to hire the best academics as full-time faculty member, adjunct faculty member from universities with high repute. Simultaneously, it has taken all the initiatives to develop a good infrastructure including modern library and hostel facilities to support the needs of the students. Alongside, various clubs have been organizing diverse of events at regular intervals in order to engage students in co- curricular and extra- curricular activities. All of these create avenues of employment for our students at home and abroad.Nevertheless, the alumni activity of the university has been always vibrant and fruitful since the creation of State University of Bangladesh Alumni Association (SUBAA). The Alumni- State University collaboration so far has created a platform for helping our future graduates while choosing career. Last but not the least, our students will find their life in our university creative, meaningful, glamorous and colorful. Also, they would be able to utilize all of their latent potentials by pursuing our Undergraduate and Masters Programs.
