SUB Journal of Sustainable Environment and Development (ISSN 2415-1483), Volume 4, July 2019
The present age is an age of environment as environmental issues top the agenda of all nations. The present Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are formulated exclusively based on environmental issues. Environmental Science deals with the problem of detection and solution of environmental problems. It examines the human impact on environment and biosphere especially in the areas of chemical and biological sciences. The MS in Environmental Science program aims at providing students with knowledge related to understanding and preserving environment. Independent research project is obligatory for the degree. Each course equips students with theoretical and quantitative research skills necessary for assessing environmental problems to enable them design and implement the scientifically feasible solutions.
Importance to have MS degree in Environmental Science
- Provides academic tools needed to address fundamental and applied problems related to human interactions with natural systems for a 21st century workforce.
- ‘Environment’ is a compulsory component of present day’s any development project.
- Prepares graduates for teaching, research, consultancy and profession of public, corporate and development sectors.
- Demand for environmental experts of all level is at rapid increase both at home and abroad.
Program Objectives
- To enable the acquisition through complementary course work and independent research work for developing an in-depth understanding of the scientific basis of the environmental challenges;
- To provide advanced skills for conducting sound scientific investigations and analysis of environmental problems and also for designing and implementing practical solutions to those problems;
- To provide insight and understanding into the process and methods involved in assessing the impact of natural and anthropogenic events on the environment;
- To develop independent and critical thinking and awareness of the current issues and developments within the field of Environmental Science and Management; and
- To upgrade the background of the graduates and broaden their skills on environmental management issues of current time.
